Maggy Hurchalla's influence cost Lake Point millions, company says in court testimony

STUART — Lake Point had to take extraordinary steps to keep its business going after actions by the Martin County Commission caused customers to lose confidence in it, a company representative testified Wednesday.

"We started to hear concerns from customers who wanted to know if we'd still be in business" to fulfill long-term rock-supply agreements, Jamie Rusbridge, Lake Point Restoration general manager, told the six jurors Wednesday morning.

It was third day of a civil trial in a case brought by Lake Point against environmental activist and former Martin County Commissioner Maggy Hurchalla.

"We're trying to say we're the vendor that's going to be there when you need us," but statements and actions by the County Commission instead indicated to customers that "we won't be here tomorrow," Rusbridge said…
