What issues matter most to Floridians this election year?
That question is at the heart of Florida Voices, an initiative led by the USA TODAY Network-Florida that debuted May 6.
When we kicked off this effort, we pledged to seek your input on topics critical to the future of our state — and to use what we learn to help guide our coverage of the governor's race and other important midterm elections.
Now, we have results to dig into. Some of them are surprising.
A poll conducted May 31-June 3 for Florida Voices by Florida Atlantic University's Business and Economics Polling Initiative showed the top issues are: the economy, school safety and the environment (in that order).
No shockers there. But deeper within the data are interesting nuances that reflect the diversity of our state…
