Casey Stengel, manager of the stumbling, bumbling 1962 New York Mets, once famously asked: Can't anybody here play this game?
I sometimes wonder what ol' Case would think of the Stuart City Commission.
To be fair, individual commissioners all seem to be gracious community servants. But too often, they're the political equivalent of Stengel's Mets. Or maybe the Keystone Kops.
Last year, then-mayor Eula Clarke resigned after allegedly calling a Stuart police officer a "pig." She was replaced as mayor by Tom Campenni, who himself resigned three months later after allegations of age discrimination…
