I moved to Stuart from Delray Beach because we thought it was a nice small community with lots of beautiful water and low buildings.
After moving here, I discovered most of the homes near the water had old septic systems which leaked into the river, helping to feed the green toxic algae.
Martin County is taking care of part of that by putting sewers in along the river in North Shores. Yes, some object to it because it is going to cost money, but I commend that majority of residents who agreed to it, even though it was expensive.
Sewall’s Point, on the other hand, has made a rather different approach.
First, the town commissioners agreed and voted for it. Then they reversed themselves because of pressure from a few well-funded waterfront residents…
