TREASURE COAST - The Florida Department of Education released test scores on June 14. In most cases, with a few notable exceptions, Treasure Coast schools showed improvement that mirrored statewide gains.
For the Florida Standards Assessments English Language Arts, the statewide percentage of students achieving a “satisfactory” Level 3 score rose from 53 to 54 percent from 2017 to 2018.
Indian River County remained under the state average but showed a similar one point increase from 51-52 percent. Martin County was above the statewide average but showed a decrease from 59-58 percent. St. Lucie County was below the state average but showed the greatest improvement on the Treasure Coast, from 48-50 percent.
In mathematics, the statewide improvement was one point, from 59-60 percent.
Indian River showed the largest math improvement in the area, rising from 56-59 percent, but still one point below state average. St. Lucie rose two points from 52-54 percent. Martin had the best passing rate by far but the lowest improvement, rising from 66-67 percent…
